Knitting For Beer, Literally!

I feel like this is a big reveal, even though most of you have already seen these on Facebook, but the project I chose to work on while at the beach were beer koozies! Staying true to my name, even if not in the way it initially implies, I knitted for my beer. Now that bottle can be stylish and your hand can stay warm while you enjoy your frosty beverage.

I started with a beer in hand, for inspirational purposes of course.

Knitted on the beach, enjoying the perfect weather, and the koozies are small so I didn't have trouble keeping anything out of the sand.

Megan was the first one to enjoy a knitted koozie on her beer, but I promised all the ladies I would make them a set. I'm working hard on everyone's koozies, the first one finished was a set of purple.

I love projects that go quick and are fun to give to people. Plus the Stitch Nation yarn has the most eye-catching colors that are perfect for dressing up your beer. I designed four different cable patterns so everyone can tell their beers apart. I will post the patterns soon so you can make your own set!

A Break From Knitting

Before leaving for the beach I put my needles down so I could indulge in another thing I love to do, bake. Even though it can be a bit of a lengthy process if you factor in cooling and drying time, I have really gotten into baking and decorating sugar cookies. So every occasion that deserves a little sweetness, I break out the rolling pin and cookie cutters.

For our bachelorette weekend I used, what else, underwear, as a theme for the cookies. (For those of you that may be more conservative minded, you could also call them bikini cookies)

I used my heart shaped cookie cutter and turned them upside down to make, well, you can see...

They turned out great, and we enjoyed them while we sat around playing games at the condo. I told the girls that I don't bake anything not worth eating, and they definitely got eaten!

Most important though, the bride loved them! Even if she felt the need to play with her food first.

Headed to the Beach!

Well, I had a semi-traumatic experience trying to select my next project. See, I have had a sweater bookmarked for a long time now. First it was waiting for the perfect yarn, and then it was waiting for the litany of baby items to be finished. Finally I'm ready to work on something for me, I have an awesome yarn that has been waiting patiently to have its turn, and now the pattern is gone!!

I couldn't even tell you how many times I clicked that link this afternoon, hopeful it would be there, but with the same sad result. Finally I stopped panicking long enough to notice a note stating that the site is temporarily down. This is somewhat of a relief since I should eventually have access to it and can use my beautiful yarn... but I want it NOW!!!

Okay, deep breath, tantrum over.

I had been hoping to share what I would be packing to knit at the beach but it seems that is not meant to be. I now have about a half dozen patterns in mind, a couple of which would include an emergency yarn stop on my way to Ocean City, MD. I really can't decide, so I think I'm going to have to sleep on it and just shove something in my bag on my way out the door.

We shall see what happens; I may just catch up on my reading.
