It's That Time Again

Time to vote!

My Candy Corns weren't selected as a finalist, but there are still some really awesome projects that need you to vote on them!

It doesn't take anymore then your time to take a look and hit the button so why not just do it?

Candy Corn Pattern

I love these little guys and I've been making an army of them. Now you can too!

Needles:
          Size 7 DPN's
Yarn:
          1 skein Lion Brand Vanna's Choice, white
          1 skein Lion Brand Vanna's Choice, terracotta
          1 skein Lion Brand Vanna's Choice, mustard
          1 skein Lion Brand Vanna's Choice,black - or scrap black yarn
Other:
          red embroidery floss
          tapestry needle
          fiber fill
Abbreviations:
          M1 - increase by knitting in the front and back of every row
          K2tog - knit two stitches together

Instructions:
          With white cast on 4 stitches
          Row 1: Slide stitches to the opposite end of the needle and knit as if creating an i-cord
          Row 2: Slide stitches to the opposite end of the needle and M1 in each stitch, dividing stitches evenly across the needles (8 stitches)
          Row 3&4: Knit
          Row 5: [K1, M1] repeat to end (12 stitches)
          Row 6 & 7: Knit
          Row 8: [K2, M1] repeat to end (16 stitches)
          Row 9: Knit
      Change to terracotta yarn
          Row 10: Knit
          Row 11: [K3, M1] repeat to end (20 stitches)
          Row 12 & 13: Knit
          Row 14: [K4, M1] repeat to end (24 stitches)
          Row 15 & 16: Knit
          Row 17: [K5, M1] repeat to end (28 stitches)
          Row 18 & 19: Knit
          Row 20: [K6, M1] repeat to end (32 stitches)
          Row 21 & 22: Knit
          Row 23: [K7, M1] repeat to end (36 stitches)
      Change to mustard yarn
          Row 24 & 25: Knit
          Row 26: [K8, M1] repeat to end (40 stitches)
          Row 27 & 28: Knit
      Do not break the yarn!

Leaving the work on the DPN's, turn it inside out and weave in all lose ends.
Using the black yarn and red floss stitch eyes and a mouth.
Stuff with fiberfill

Close the bottom:
          Row 1: [K2tog, K3] repeat to end (32 stitches)
          Row 2: Knit
          Row 3: [K2tog, K2] repeat to end (24 stitches)
          Row 4: Knit
          Row 5: [K2tog, K1] repeat to end (16 stitches)
          Row 6: Knit
          Row 7: [K2tog] repeat to end (8 stitches)
      If necessary, adjust the amount of stuffing before closing up.
      Cut yarn leaving a 6" tail and pull through remaining 8 stitches as you take them off the DPN's
      Pull the bottom closed, secure the yarn by making a knot and push needle through the middle of the candy corn, pulling the tail out through the top.
      Cut the tail so it's hidden inside the candy corn.

Celebrate Color With Candy Corn!

I am so excited about these little guys, and I think they're totally adorable. Plus it's really easy to make a bunch of them and put them all over your house.

I'm also officially submitting them for the Celebrate Color contest over at Stitched in Color. If you don't know about this contest yet, you must check it out. The prizes are drool-worthy, and there are some talented people showing off their handwork.

Fall was definitely the inspiration for these guys when I was trying to come up with an easy pattern to submit for my certification. It just made sense to me to make something holiday themed and what better than candy corn?

It's an iconic fall candy, plus I've used them to decorate around the house before, filling jars and vases with the colorful candy and putting them around the house.
